Cyber hygiene for business owners

A practical consult for owners: lock down the accounts that run your business and make an account takeover much harder.

Who it’s for

Small business owners who know their email, bank, payroll, and domain accounts are what the business runs on, and who have no IT department to secure them. No framework or contract required. If the business would stop when one login is stolen, this is for you.

Most small businesses aren’t breached through clever hacking. Someone gets into an email or admin account, then uses it to reset everything else or to send a convincing invoice. So we start by listing the accounts that matter most, who can get into them, and how each one would be recovered if it were lost.

Then we work through the fixes in order of risk: stronger sign-in with multi-factor or passkeys, a password manager, recovery options an attacker can’t hijack, separate admin accounts, and habits that make phishing and payment fraud harder to pull off. You come away with a short checklist in plain language, already partly done.

Deliverables

  • An inventory of the accounts your business depends on, and who can access each one.
  • A risk-ordered checklist covering sign-in, recovery, admin access, devices, and payment habits.
  • Hands-on help setting up the first fixes during the consult.
  • A one-page guide for your team on spotting phishing and confirming payment changes.

Timeline

Usually short, and sized to how many people and accounts you have. The quote says how many sessions.
